Healthy play online: screen time, budgets and self-exclusion
Online play is available at any hour, which makes limits more important. At 1Red — for adults in eligible countries — keep play healthy with a budget, time limits and, if needed, self-exclusion.
Online habits
- Set a spending limit and a session length before you log in.
- Use a phone alarm to end sessions on time.
- Avoid playing late at night when tired.
- Never chase losses or deposit again to recover them.
- Withdraw winnings instead of replaying them.
Self-exclusion by email
Self-exclusion for a set period or permanently is requested by email to [email protected] from your registered address. Full rules: 1Red's Responsible Gaming policy.
Red flags
Sessions getting longer, chasing losses, using money for bills, borrowing, secrecy or irritability when not playing. If several apply, stop and talk to someone.
Shared devices and minors
Under-18s may not play. On shared computers and phones, log out after every session, keep passwords private and consider parental controls.
Support services
Gambling Therapy (www.gamblingtherapy.org) offers free online help and Gamblers Anonymous (www.gamblersanonymous.org) runs groups; both are independent of 1Red. Your GP can help too.
Helping others
Talk calmly, listen, do not pay their debts and encourage professional help. See Get help and FAQ.
